Re: Flynn Downes Signed
Having managed QPR last season you'd hope Warburton would have marked Moyes card on Championship talent and players he had seen that looked Premier league ready.

The only complaint we could have is that maybe someone on our staff might have noticed him when we played Ipswich in a couple of friendlies before he went to Swansea for about a tenth of what we are paying.

A friend in the know said that Warburton had contact with him and alerted Moyes. We needed replacement for Noble / Kral and it was a no brainer.

Palace ahead but when he found out we was in he changed his mind immediately.

Don't know anything about him, but being Brentwood school lad I guess he is a sound kid and a hard worker and as a fan of the club am willing to give him the benefit of doubt and wish him luck.

He would have been in my daughters year at Brentwood as well.

Let's hope he is a success.

Great addition to the squad I hope but do not want to have this passed off to us as one of the larger first team regular signings that we desperately need.

Re: Flynn Downes Signed
This newcomer will provide competition for places in our midfield and hopefully he will be introduced in a way that that enables him to step up to PL top eight level.

Re: Flynn Downes Signed
fraser is right. Soucek has never been a good passer. If you look at the stats, Soucek's passing was actually slightly better last year than the previous season (76% pass success rate vs 75%). By comparison Rice and Lanzini both hit 91% and Noble 88%.

Always nice to have one of our own sign for us - this means he will be giving 100% for the cause. Excited and hopeful he works out!

Good luck to the lad, sounds like it’s a dream come true for him. Such a difference to anybody we’re usually linked with. Hope he absolutely shines for us.

That’s why I said we’ve got ‘recognise’ Fraser son….

Re: Flynn Downes Signed
There was no problems or compaints about Souceks passing in the first season with us. He was playing well, scoring and passing well.

But agree, with another option in midfield you can afford to give him a break so this is a good signing.

Let's hope we do the same for our other overplayed player Antonio.

Re: Flynn Downes Signed
Thought Palace were signing this kid?

Was it a case of us coming in late and him choosing us because he's a fan?

That would be a nice touch!

Championship signings can go either way, hopefully this one will be more like Antonio than Sam Byram.

Re: Flynn Downes Signed
Soucek was overplayed and it obviously affected his form, however he's never been great at passing.

I like this signing and hopefully he can push Soucek for his place.

Re: Flynn Downes Signed
We’ve got to recognise but stop having a pop at Soucek for being overplayed which made him both mentally & physically knackered….this will be his first summer break with us…..no one seems to want to cut him some slack on that AND he covers the most ground…..it’s like he’s getting punished for it and it sounds like by the manager to!

Reported his bit of a hard player
Looks like the son maybe even grandson of Stevie Lomas.

That will do.

Re: Flynn Downes Signed
I won’t pretend to know anything about him but I love this type of signing. A low transfer fee for a player in the lower leagues who is desperate to play for West Ham and where the fans of the team he’s leaving rate him highly.

Lots of ticks.

Kral not cutting it led to Rice and Soucek being overplayed and worn out last season. This is an important position to fill especially with Noble gone too.

All sounds good and looking forward to seeing his development with us in the Premier.

Re: Flynn Downes
Can't be displeased with this and it's always a nice bonus if they are a fan, but I don't see him being a first team player too much this season, unless he gets a chance and really impresses, which is possible. If he can pass the ball to a team mate then he's already got one up on Soucek.

Re: Flynn Downes Signed
Had a text chat with my Swansea ST holder mate. Bit of a hard bastard by all accounts, and very popular with the Swanettes. Reckons he could turn in to a Roy Keane type of player, but with more skill. Says we have a bit of a bargain.

Re: Flynn Downes Signed
I like the cut of his jib - looks like an upgrade on Noble and will give Tommy a kick up the arse for his place in Midfield

Re: Flynn Downes Signed
I don’t know much about him but, from the clips I’ve seen and what I’ve read, I’ve got a really good feeling about him.

He works his socks off already so he will run through walls for his boyhood team. He definitely looks to have a few similar traits to that of Rice.
